Dye shifter boot

Since finding this thread the other day I decided to do mine. I started with my shift boot last night. At first it was not the look as was wanting because the fabric pen I used left it a dull yellow (FabricMate DYE Ink Marker) so I went and bought another brand (DecoFabric) and this time it turned out just the way I wanted it to! Thanks for the info and starting this thread.

I went out and looked at my cloth seats and I don't see how to do them without getting it on the cloth itself with the DecoFabric pen. It comes out more like paint instead of a dry marker like the FabricMate DYE Ink Marker. Little nervous!!!

Even having leather interior, I didn't do the stitching in the fabric parts for just that reason. And yes A LOT of dye comes out of the DecoFabric pen.

Great thread! Did mine green to match the stripes. It looks good, but I'm considering finding a deeper green.

Thanks!. I used the Elmer's Painters Markers. Super easy, super cheap. Available at Walmart.

Do NOT use the decofabric pen on a cloth interior stitching!

You can use a very fine tip fabric dye MARKER style pen and CAREFULLY and PATIENTLY go over the stitching.

The decofabric pen is more of a paint style pen.

It will probably take you longer as you might have to color each individual stitch, one at a time until you get the hang of it.

I just joined to also give thanks to this thread. I spent like the last month or so trying to figure out how to redye/recolor the stitching on my old MR2 front bra and someone pointed me to this thread. I ended up using hte Elmers medium tip in red.

Here is what it looked like to start:

Finished one letter:

finished MR2:

Completed minus some touch up:
