12" subwoofers

Hi..
I'm adding two 12 inch Mtx 1200 w 400 rms total subs along with a kicker zx.1 400 watt rms amp to my camaro with base Boston system.... I know subs are not the best but I didn't wanna spend too much on them....does anybody have this set up and will it improve my sound?

That's gonna be a lot of bass, you'll have to keep it turned down a lot to not overpower everything else
I have two 10" subs and they're easily overpowering. A Single 10" or 12" would be fine and leave more room

Yeah that's what I'm afraid of specially since I mainly listen to heavy metal and hard rock.

This dude doesn't know what he's talking about, as long as you get a bigger amp for your speakers you'll be ok, it won't overpower the speakers, not at all, 400w is nothing and will sound great, if you listen to rock and metal I suggest going with 10" woofers vs. 12" 10's will keep a tighter note and punch harder, 12's and 15's are for rap and pop and techno, they're great at holding the long higher hz notes.

I think you'll be ok.

all I meant is that you can get great sound without having two 12" subs. I have two 10" and they are way more than enough. Get a single 12" turn it sideways I think it would be just as good, unless you want huge bass notes rattling the car next to you's license plates

to answer the question better it will help but i think the OP would still hear an improvement with a single sub and would not complain about lack of bass.

I use a single 12" with 600 watts. More than enough output.

I have a single 10" Rockford Fosgate with a 1000W amp... Plenty for me. Also not using the amp to it's full potential since the 10 has a peak of like 600 or something like that.

The duals may give you better sound or whatever I'm not an expert. But what I do know is many people are running a single and are happy about it, and that duals usually cost more. Maybe put the money on getting a really nice single, rather than a decent dual? Idk, something to think about.

Ummmm as for the 8 gauge wire, it will get pretty hot. Go with 4 gauge. You might also have issues getting the 12" subs into the trunk.
