I drive my car whenever I can, winter or summer, but I also play it smart. If the roads are caked in salt, I leave it at home for another day. I'm planning on keeping this car for 20+ years, and driving it through pure salt wouldn't be a good idea. I usually just run the hose under my DD to get the salt off, or find a car wash that has undercarriage spray. |

But seriously, you do realize of course, that there is a negative temperature threshold, where even the all-mighty, and powerful "salt", will cease to melt ice. I seriously doubt the substance or even solution they use in your hood, has a temp threshold remotely even close, to that of The Salts. |

Road salt gets into areas that just can't be rinsed off. Now cars are better resisting rust today then in past years. Now washing the under body does help ...it doesn't prevent. Now for those saying just drive it year round because there are so many out there. ....go ahead. But my SS stays in the garage in the winter. If I didn't plan on keeping the car so my daughter can own it one day maybe I wouldn't care so much.

Lease vs. buy and stop worrying.
Easy enough. |

This product sounds promising. I know some of the coldest States are also big dairy states so it would seem like a great solution. Much less harsh than rock-salt... http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-...-de-ice-roads/
