What it boils down to very often is that on the Internet there is an OVERWHELMING need for people to try and feel superior, by going overboard with sarcasm.

U are 100% correct... the post the OP put up was valid... the responder lacked the reading comprehension to decipher his meaning. Ironic considering his "What grade are u in" comment

Here ya go... looks like the Camaro is faster...
1) Camaro 2) Challenger 3) Mustang 4) G37 with Aerokit... er Genesis

Excuse me?

I did not lack the reading comprehension to understand his post. What I was pointing out is that he was making a statement about manually equipped cars while only providing a chart for automatics. Thus providing evidence of one while speaking of another without proof, and thus creating an element of confusion.

Good job on trying to stir the pot on an issue that had died down and was not being discussed anymore.

So, 305hp Pentastar or not, what magic did Chrysler pull off with the Challenger SE to get it to within a couple tenths of the still lighter Camaro? And will they actually be offering a proper transmission, finally? That alone was enough to take it out of consideration when I was deciding on Mustang vs. Camaro last year.

it was 3 tenths (and Mph) behind and is about 100lbs heavier while rated at a lil less HP. SOunds about right. When they get a better tranny i think itll be maybe a tenth or two behind

The fact that its only around 250 pounds or so heavier than the V6 Camaro?

The generally accepted rule is 100 pounds= 1 tenth in the 1/4.

Oh and just as a FYI in case there was a confusion, the V6 Challenger is 3800-3900 pounds and change this year vs the 4100+ pounds in the Hemi Challengers.

Not badmouthing your preferred pony, just asking a question.

I thought the new Mustang V6 was "only" about 300 pounds lighter than the Camaro V6 but has a good 1/2 second on the Camaro, so I guess I'm surprised that less power and torque but 150-200 lbs heavier makes less of a difference than less power, equal torque but 300 lbs lighter makes double or more difference with the manual Mustang.

Oh I didnt think you were

Again, the "100 lbs equals a tenth" is just a rough estimation, truth may be a bit more or a bit less.

theres always other small factors as well like the efficiency of the tranny to put the power down, gear ratios, aerodynamics and sometimes just the basic "law of diminishing returns". but with that said 250lbs and 6less hp seems to equate to 3tenths and 3mph pretty accurately.

The Mustang is typically faster because theres a bigger difference between 3400lbs vs 3700lbs (%9 difference) than 3700 vs 3900 (%5.4 difference)

I think the 8 speed will work wonders. judging by the MPH, it must have had a hell of a launch and good 60 ft though. COnsidering it and the Mustang were not broken in also (I know Chryslers have a breakin peiod and usually don't completely loosen up until like 2-5k miles.
