gas, what would you use?
I've seen the threads about 87 in the SS cars and I'm looking a little higher. I'm fortunate enough to live in an area where there are stations that offer 91, 93, and non E gas (not sure of the octane).
If you had those options, which would you run? |

Premium will keep the fuel schedule leaner, giving you more power. Also, it smells better.

93 octaine only. It makes te car more responsive & have more power. Also use only "top tier" gasoline (approved by GM). As best I recall is has to do with having enough detergent to keep the fuel systems clean & working properly. Around here that is Shell mostly. There is a thread on C5 somewhere about using top tier fuel but I am at work & don't have time to search it.

I am not participating in the poll as there is not enough information for me.
According to any auto manufacturer I have ever seen, anything 91 or higher is considered premium so I don't understand those answering premium. I would lean strongly toward 93 but I would have to see the price difference between that and 91. 5 cents as it is here for me, I buy 93. I would buy non-ethanol, provided it is at least 91 if it was not more than 3-4% more than the others. One note here is that for cars older than 2007-2008 I would pay up for non-ethanol because their fuel systems are not made for ethanol exposure and will deteriorate over time even from E10. No answers here, but something to think about. Hope this helps edit: This assumes you have a stock tune, if you are tuned for 93 then you should use 93.

The SS needs at least 91 or it goes to the lower performance table and you have to do a fuse pull to get it to return to the higher one (at least on the '10s.)
Wikipedia (I know, right?) states that there is no benefit for running higher than a car's stated octane minimum if you aren't tuned for it. I do anyway. But your poll is flawed as 91 or 93 can also be non-ethanol. (And Ethanol does cause a car to burn gas quicker.)

Nothing but 93 ever for my baby.. For 10 cents more a gallon than 91 ($1.50 p/fillup) it's a No-brainer.l

The poll is flawed.
You can get 91 or 93 with or without ethanol. As well, at higher altitudes, the highest is typically 91 with 93 octane at lower altitude. Typical grades lower altitude 87/89/93 (with 86 at Sunoco) or 86/87/91. To answer...if you are concerned, 93 non ethanol or 91 non ethanol at altitude.
