Best way to protect the car?

I didn't know what section i should start this thread in so i just figured the general discussions would be appropriate...

anyways, I'm gonna be living in an apartment for the next 8 months and I was wondering what is the best way to protect it. those who live in apartments, do you use a certain type of car cover or something? i have a car cover right now with a lock but it's definitely not very...safe..

What is your parking situation like? Shared underground parking? Above ground? Garage?

I live in an apartment and I have a garage but one of my friends lives in a place with designated underground parking that has a few vacancies and he asked the landlords for a spot that was by the wall and that had a vacancy beside him so he doesn't get people parking too close to him.

i think it's gonna be a parking structure..not sure whether it's above or underground. i'll see if i can request a spot, but i still want something to make sure no one can do damage to the car. i've had haters in the past that did stuff, just want to take precautionary actions now that i'll be living on my own

Here are easy steps to prevent damage to your car in an apartment complex:

- Don't speed in the apartment complex
- Don't play loud music from the car
- Don't rev your engine in the apartment complex
- Be courteous to your neighbors
- Park within the lines of your parking spot and center it
- Make sure everything is hidden in the interior (place items in center console or glove box)

Wow, that's a hard question. There seem to be three main threats 1) "unintentional" damage (i.e., door dings), 2) intentional damage (i.e., keying), and 3) environmental damage (i.e., acid rain). To protect from #1 and #2, I'd want to park as far away from others as possible and use a cover, out of sight can be out of mind and out of the way of unintentional harm as well as from AHs who have nothing better to do than to mess with other people's property. #3 will be tougher, I don't know how much a good quality car cover can protect against environmental elements. I'd see if I could rent a garage locally, if not then get a really good cover that can be secured so that it doesn't get stolen.

It's tough owning something of which others are envious, this is why I moved to a place that had a garage as soon as I could a long time ago and never looked back. Good luck and I hope you can get indoor storage someday!

Yea i'm just worried about the 2nd one. I have a cover but the one i have now, if the wind can blow it off, i'm sure a person can take it off lol...and it even has a cable lock. I was wondering if something was out there that can protect without having to go find Chuck Norris to go watch over my car haha

I'd go and see if there are cameras in the garage and if there are I'd request a spot right in front of it...and don't put a cover on, you're just asking for trouble if you do that. Also keep it dirty it'll draw less attention.

Make friends with your immediate neighbors (or at least be "that friendly guy"), and just give them a heads up about (or just flat out discuss) your car, so that they can help you remain vigilant.

It can be a team or community effort, keeping possessions safe and sound.

I'm asking this cause I'm doing the Disney College Program in Anaheim and I already have a hater just for saying that I drive a camaro and he thinks that I'm completely stock. I'm living in the provided apartments and it shares one parking structure. I've had people in my high school mess with my car already and I don't want to have to fix it again. I just don't understand people.
