Jesse, Easy Day! I just don't want any other Camaro owner to have to go through what I have with the STS kit. I have to keep it real and make sure this info gets out to the tribe. |

I have Trifecta also, IPF has a V6 tune and have heard good things from the person I directed to them at last years Fest for a engine cover/tune swap.

It is a remote tune. I have it with my SC kit and this was a major worry but the guys at IPF and EDS have been fantastic at turning the tune to get my car just right.

Hey everyone i hate to revive an old thread n i hope you guys are still around to help me out. Anyways ive come to the point that i cant help it anymore n i need a turbo! Haha im goin to be designing and puttin the setup together myself in my garage n once i got it all put together im takin it to my speed shop to have the final touches done n get it tuned up (2014 v6 m6 thru hp tuners) i was lookin at this sts kit for reference (because its a single) on where to start and it seems this this kit was pretty stout but the issues with it arrived mainly from the turbo being all the way in the rear bumber. It seems as tho the turbos/pumps were failin and im wondering if it was just a oil scavenging problem? As in if this turbo was front mounted and gravity fed the return oil it would last longer? I plan on doin a front mount single setup using either an entry level precision or garret turbo so i will be using a good turbo. I guess my question in short is
Was the sts kits shortcoming mainly based on the location of the turbo and the oil pump not being up to par? I see a turbo goin out pretty fast if its not lubricated properly. Also any other tips for a DIYer? Thanks in advance Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk |

I have a 2010 LLT V6 Twin Turbo and the turbos are mounted in the rear like the STS system. I installed the set-up in 2011 and have 40,000 miles on the install with not a single issue!! Nothing wrong with rear mounted turbos if installed correctly and using premium parts. The best and only scavenge pump to use on these projects, in my opinion, is the Turbowerx Exa-Pump!!! Not one issue in 40,000 miles. Can barely hear it, very quiet. I used these on ALL remote mounted turbo projects throughout the years. Never a failure. Over the years, I have done probably, 15 projects with remote mounted turbochargers and the systems work perfectly. Keeps the heat out of the engine bay, less complicated install and clutter and better weight distribution. If done correctly with premium parts, there is no reason to be concerned about remote systems.

Thanks for the reply, 40,000 miles n no issues on the turbowerx pump huh? Thats pretty good is that of the norm for an oil pump? It seems all issues with rear mounts seem to derive from the oil pump so thats one part i will definitely not cheap out on. Also does the turbowerx pump have a pump failure warning as well? Ive heard some pumps will warn you when they are goin out so you can switch them out promptly?

You by chance have an undercarriage shot of your setup? Id like to see how you routed it if at all possible.

I will get some pics and post them. Ideally, the pump should be slightly below the turbo housing drain even if only 1 inch. Keep pump as close to the turbos as practical. The plumbing from there is anyway you want because its on the pressure side. The best place to return the oil on a 3.6 V6 is at the rear fitting on the drivers side valve cover. As far as warning indicators, the pump has none but many on the forum have come up with a number of different designs that are fine. The secret to trouble free oil scavenge systems is premium components throughout, no cheap stuff. Oil changes and filter changes at 3000 mile intervals are a must and only use good quality synthetic oil. I use mobile 1. NO OTHER ADDITIVES! I also recommended a dedicated turbo oil filter in the oil pressure feed line and locate it in the rear, close to the turbos. This post are all the secrets to a trouble free oil scavenge system.

Thank you for all that info right there thats definitely gonna help me out. Ill definitely get a turbowerx pump if i go this route. Im still determined to do a front mount and gravity drain it. It just seems less likely to have issues. And since its my DD im worried about reliability you know. Its just the simplicity of this remote mount setup thats intriguing but as i looked into it more, ppl had nothing but negative things to say on it. But hell im probly overthinking this whole thing. Im kinda OCD like that.
