No more HUD's
I was talking to some GM folks, and it was mentioned that they were going to stop offering the HUD's on everything but their top tier vehicles. Seems noone wants them according to them.
Would anyone agree? I personally love the HUD, its awesome. If my car didnt have it I would be installing one after market. Also seems to be way up there on the safety margin. but its just flat out convenient. I cant imagine that most people don't want it. My theory is it costs to much, mainly the windshield. What do yall think? |

I look for it on wife's vehicle whenever I drive it. Would be lost without it now that I have it!

It is a feature that I selected on the car I recently ordered. I am red/green color blind and it is difficult for me to see the needles on most cars due to them being red(invisible against black backgrounds to me). It would be a improved safety item for me! I have swapped out the gauge faces to white on every vehicle I buy.

That was one of the factors on why I bought the 2LT.

Heads up display should be standard on all cars. I think it's brilliant.

The funny thing about HUD is that people think it's a new and modern feature. I had a Pontiac Grand Prix with it way back in 1991, and it wasn't a new feature then. I think it actually came out on Oldmobiles in '88. it's a good idea, and surprising it's been around well over 20 years and still not used widely on more cars.

Some people simply find it annoying, I don't know why but I have heard that complaint a number of times on this forum.
I think its a great idea and combining turn by turn navigation with the HUD seems like the absolute best form of in-car nav that I can think of.

That's the reason why I wanted the 2ss well that and the four gauge Package but that's good make these first 5th gens even more rare and desirable and not to forget valuable and now the value just went up again on ours. Crazy even though the cars are newer the won't have all the bells and whistles like ours

I think it's not used widely because, its possible it can cause accidents, not that its the fault of the feature, but if your eyes are zoomed to the windshield directly, because of the HUD, anything further is a blur, thus not paying attention to whats in front of you.
You could argue your standard instrument panel is the same, but its not really the same as you will pay less attention to the road with the HUD than a standard instrument panel simply because your less interested in it. |
