If the repair is done right, no compromise to the structure will exist. Insist on a full quarter. I have seen a 5th gen which had the rear quarter replaced, they cut the upper rear sail panel just above the quarter glass, very hard to tell a repair was made.

The full quarter actually is the rear skin, rocker, upper sail, and door jamb. Its all stamped as one piece. Getting into that level of replacemet is extensive.

So consider that when you are talking with your repair shop as the price could get out of hand with that kind of shop time.

unfortunately from what I've researched the rear diffuser has the wide body flare at the bottom to continue on so it will look funny if you don't buy the whole kit

If you use the rear wheel well GM rock guards in conjunction with the Z/28 diffuser, aka Spring Edition Diffuser, it dovetails in nicely. Member djoker08 did it.

Anyone can order it right out of the Chevrolet Performance catalog. Here's a pic of the page from the 2016 catalog with the part numbers.

If you want the Z/28 exhaust diffuser and cannot get one from the Restrictions, the Spring Edition piece is the same design. As I recall, it comes primed and needs paint......Part#22997454

Thanks for the info! Sucks tho, I'd really like to get the whole 9 yards, flares, skirts, etc.
