The roof! The roof! The roof is...hey, all scratched up...
Sorta deep scratches on my roof. Right over the driver's headrest. Wouldn't be able to see it in direct sun, I just got a good look today while it was overcast. Might have been a branch from a tree, definitely not conscious vandalism this time I think, something was on the roof and slid off.
I hand-polished 85-90% of it off, only three or four spots about .5" long remaining (that I know about!). Buffer tomorrow will take care of the small remaining marks. This soft paint system sucks, a bug fart scratches it.

Yeah, I hear that. I had a car painted in 2003, nice coat of paint. Hard to chip, hard to scratch. Times has sure changed.

Man you have no luck. Maybe you should just beat it with a hammer and not worry about anymore.

I almost give up on the paint for these cars , By the time I get the scratches corrected , New ones appear , And save it all you wash experts I watch Junkmans Videos , Use the 2 bucket system with girt guards , 3 micro fiber mitts , spray with foam gun , keep it waxed as much as possible Use borderless micro rags to dry , never apply too much pressure when drying , etc etc. The paint sucks

Do you put your helmet on the roof at track days?
My tech guy at the drag strip told me to leave it on the DS in case I scratched my car. I am so used to 4th Gen T Tops it became second habit to unbag it and roof it.

I feel your pain... I had my first kill yesterday. A big bird committed suicide on my windshield going 70MPH. He knew he was a goner as he emptied his bowels all of the heat extractor on my hood on the way in.
Two small chips (barely visible) on the windshield and a small scratch from his talons of doom next to it. Somehow he must have bounced hard as he managed to clear the paint all together. That SMACK is a hell of an attention getter too. I flinched and cringed. |
