Reduce engine power

So I was driving today in my 2012 ss L99 and my service stabletrak came on and then it cut power to my engine saying "engine power reduced" I'm now at the dealership. But does anyone have any ideas of what it could be? What I should possibly do before they slap me with a fat bill??

Have the battery tested for both volts & cranking amps.

Check all of your hoses, and your wires.
This has happened to me a few times,
once was I forgot to plug in a harness,
another time one of the lines to my catch can was undone,
a third time it was a loose spark plug wire.

Without knowing the code, it could be any number of things, and everyone is just guessing. For me it was a throttle positions sensor (80 dollar part 5 min to replace by myself).

As for what to do? Buy a code reader that way you can research the code before bringing it in and have an idea of whats wrong before the dealer tells you that you need to replace your muffler bearings.

Yeah, don't let the dealer soak you for muffler bearing replacement. It's easy to do yourself.

I had the exact same thing last Thursday due to a bad throttle body positioner. I thought the engine was going to throw a rod!

This happened to me after a year of driving and I had a hard time arguing with my dealership's techs about the issue coz all they do is clear the code and nothing else. A forum member that happens to be a high up rep on the service department help me resolve the issue and he ordered to have my car into a total tear down to find what's wrong.

It's a busted wire in the steering column that freaks the sensors out and just makes our engine loose power and just shuts off completely after awhile. . .

Thumbs up

Yea turns out it was my throttle body... Some internal sensor! I was worried it was gonna be a lot worse than that! So they just replaced my whole throttle body under warranty and away we went!

I Even had my after market CAI intake on, they still did everything under warranty!!

Yeah.....because it was obvious that the CAI could not have caused the problem .
