Had a little incident today

I was cruising around 650 pm. The time of day where the sun makes the roadway not 100 percent visible.

I happen to run over an object! I immediately pulled over, my front right tire showed 21 psi, then 1 as I came to a stop.

I had a flat front right tire, and my splitter has about a foot size piece broken off, and the front valence pulled off a bit from the front end.

I called a friend to come pick me up to go get my other car, then I went to get my stock front tire. He drove me by where I hit the object.

It happened to be a vise, like a big metal vise from a shop, just lying there in the road!

The hole is in my sidewall, the tire has 765 miles on it.

But I couldn't be more thankful!

My brand new mr28 wheel was unharmed, its just a hole in the sidewall, I can replace the tire, I can fix the fender myself, and the splitter was just the 140 dollar ebay special slp splitter.

Im thankful it was close to home where I could easily have a friend pick me up and put the old tire on.

Im thankful I was on a road I could easily pull off and not cause more harm to myself or other traffic.

Could have been a lot worse fellas.

I bet that would have broken the control arm off a lesser car! Did you at least keep the vise? Three guesses where It came from...

Sorry to hear about the damage to your car, but yeah, it could have been worse. It sounds like you had a good contingency plan in place - "for just such an emergency."

I hope ya brought the vise home with ya, might be worth more than the damage to the car, good ones are expensive.

Accidents happen! It could be worse. As long as no one gets hurt, a vehicle is only a piece of metal. I am glad you are safe and sound. Regards

Man.. that really stinks. But you handled it well and we're lucky in a few regards. I am not sure I could have handled it that well. Post some before and after shots so we can see it.

Check under the car also for any paint damage, you don't want anything scraped through to bare metal and start rusting. But from your description it may not have hit anything under the car, just to be safe I would put it on a lift and check it out.
I hit an entire wheel and tire assembly on the interstate one early morning while it was still dark. Just over the top of a hill I hit it dead center in my 66 Corvair. It launched me up over it and broke the front air dam and tore loose the gas gauge wire but that was all it did.

Glad you are ok and hope you get your car fixed soon.

Glad you're okay... cars can be replaced, parts even easier.

Had my lower deflector (rubber piece underneath the front end) sliced clean off a few weeks ago due to road debri. Sounded rough underneath and it was dark so I didn't see it coming. I consider myself lucky also.

You took it well. I'd be pissed if that happened to me. Hope everything gets fixed soon if it's not already.
