Excellent write-up!

There are a few things that bother me about the car, there is no car out there that is 100% perfect in every way imaginable. Every car has it's pro's and con's and GM hit a home run with the new camaro!

Things that bug me at times about the 5th Gen:

1. The Emergency brake could be more flush.
2. Cup holders could be deeper and more toward the passenger seat.
3. The seat belt magnetic holder could be stronger so it doesn't pop off all the time and the loop could be bigger so the seat belt doesn't twist up on your shoulder.

And that's about it for me, everything else is PERFECT!

As I was washing mine earlier this evening I was once again struck by the dimensionality of the body. I was not washing a car; I was washing a sculpture. You can feel it as your hand moves over the various areas of the car, from the front to the back... this is not just stamped out sheet metal, this is like a Michelangelo sculpture. It has life; it has depth; it has dimension and amazingly it feels like one piece even though you know it's made up of many pieces.

This car is something that very few cars are...it's actually beautiful. For the many months I was waiting for mine to be built, I was drawing all these ideas for stripes and planning all these exterior mods I was going to do, but I've had my car 3 weeks now and I haven't done a thing to the outside yet....except wash and wax it. I find myself reluctant to change it's appearance although I definitely want the heritage grill. The IBM blue is so much more beautiful than I was expecting; it has so much more depth and beauty that I find myself reluctant to do anything to it.

What a car. What a joy to drive. I did get the Zoomer's exhaust and after a week and a half it's smoothed out and sounds so glorious it's like music. Sometimes I just cruise down the street in 3rd gear listening to the engine purr. I know I'm not getting the best gas mileage doing that and I should shift into 4th but I don't care; the sound is so good I just love it.

I've owned many many cars over the years and some really nice ones. But this car is by far the best. There's something about it that makes it more than a car; something indefinable. So glad I bought one, and in Imperial Blue Metallic.
Another great write-up, DOC...you are able to put into words what is almost impossible for us "mere mortals" to say about our "babies"...LOL...

Man, I'm right there with ya! (Thanks to SScattergunSS! ) The car really is an amazing drive.

I caught that bit about the seats, and completely agree! They even LOOK just a bit wide, but they AREN'T. The seat hugs your cheeks like they were it's eager young children heading off to their first day of school!

I haven't driven one yet, but I did ride in a V6, and the biggest surprise to me was how similar the ride was to my Cadillac CTS. A Camaro is not supposed to ride like that!

Great write up Dragoneye. I really enjoyed reading it and it brought back memories of when I first picked up Number 3.

Thanks for taking the test drive to understand how great the car really is and thanks for taking the time to share your experience with us.

Dragoneye, I am 100% with you, the 2010 Camaro is absolutely awesome, I have my IOM 2010 2SSRS Camaro and I love it, I love the Vette to, but I am a Camaro guy all the way, everything you said is the same I thought when I first drove mine, it is like be a celebrity when I'm cruising around in mine with all the smiles and waves from people and when I pull into a car cruise the whole crowd surrounds my car and many of the people start taking pictures, I love it!

Great write up!!

Thank you so much. My husband and have a 2SS/RS - orange coming in a week or two. We were getting nervous because we actually ordered the car without driving one. And heard the exhaust is tooo quiet and are planning some custom exhaust work already.

After reading your post - we are more then excited. We can't wait for the car to come. We actually remodeled our garage around the car- LOL It's almost finished - just putting in the epoxy floor this weekend.

Thanks again-

This could have been written by my husband and I. We concur with everything you have said to a "T". You test drove the car we have (an IOM SS/RS). The IOM is the most beautiful color we have ever seen on a car (in our opinion). You have to see it in person to appreciate how gorgeous this color really is.

Like you, my husband has also driven Vettes and just about every sports/high performance car that has been built: Porshes, BMWs, Mercedes, and even a Lamborghini) and he is so impressed with the Camaro, he wants to get another IOM SS/RS with the IO interior and we are seriously considering doing this next year.

This car was supposed to be MY everyday car and I can't get HIM to quit driving it! This car has become his mistress and I'm not exaggerating. He thinks about her at work. The first thing he wants to do when he gets home is drive her. He's already spent 5k on mods. He used to be so tired after work, all he wanted to do was sit in his easy chair and take a nap. Now he comes home, showers, get's dressed up and we go cruising for an hour. When I drive away in her, he stands and watches. He's outside waiting for me when I'm coming down the street (I admit, I do the same). You can't help but to lust after this car! It's so damned beautiful.

This car has changed our lives in a way that is truly amazing. How can a car do this? After all, it's just a car, right? No, it's not. It's a drug with wheels.

The highest compliment that I can pay to my 1SS is that the first time that it rained after I got it on 5/20/09, I was not going to drive it to work. I was going to ride my Harley instead because the Camaro was so beautiful that I did not want to get it dirty. I am a dedicated motorcyclist, but I am also a Camaro lover. I have had 4 of them. I never questioned which vehicle to take to work on a nice day before, it was always the Harley when I had my gen 3 and my 2 gen 4s. My 2010 1SS has changed that. I love this car! The only major problem that I have is trying to keep my foot out of the gas so that I can keep my drivers licence. Any minor faults like the passengers seat are unimportant. Overall, fbodyfather and Al Oppenheiser and Sunyap Lee have produced the finest Camaro ever. I test drove a 2010 Mustang GT when I was getting impatient. I ordered mine on 10/13/08 and was sick of waiting. When I was driving it, I knew that my 2002 SS that was back at the Ford dealership, could eat the Tang for lunch. I then priced an SRT8 Challenger, $45,000.00? You must be kidding. I also found a 2007 Vette with 4,900 miles on it for the same money as my 1SS. I am so happy that I did not give in to my impatience. I agree totally with the author of this thread. Chevrolet has hit a home run with this car.
