Power Windows Will Not Index Or Lose Index Position

I know people have had this issue with there windows. GM has just released a PI (not a bulletin yet) addressing this issue. There will be a new program update for the window motors. It isn't released yet but will be sometime later. Heres a copy of what it states.

Quote:
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:
The door glass doesn't index or loses the index position. This may be caused by the programming in the motor/module assembly.

Recommendation/Instructions:
A revised programming is coming for the door glass motor. Do not replace parts. A Bulletin will be released when the fix becomes available. As a temporary fix, please demonstrate to the customer how to normalize the windows per the Owner Manual procedure:

To program each front window, follow these steps:

•With the ignition in ACC/ACCESSORY, ON/RUN, or when Retained Accessory Power (RAP) is active, close all doors.
•Press and hold the power window switch until the window is fully open.
•Pull the power window switch up until the window is fully closed.
•Continue holding the switch up for approximately two seconds after the window is completely closed.
The window is now reprogrammed. Repeat the process for the other window.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.

I had this happen too, just follow the directions on the DIC and turned on and off the car three times and it was all lined back up and the message went away.

I've had to reprogram my driver's side window since day one. Had the car over 4 months and have reprogrammed it at least 25-30 times. It's no big deal, only takes 30 sec. to reprogram so never bothered to return to the dealer. I'll bring it in once they have the fix.

Do you have to zip tie them in place?

lol, no... you have to take the regulator out, remove the motor, hook it up and turn the motor up 6 rotations.. then reassemble..

I have this issue, I am reprogramming my drivers window at least 3-4 times per week sometimes more. My dealer has acknowledged the issue and will notify me when this new programming is available.
