2nd Broken Diff, 14 1LE. Need Opinions
My 14 1LE's differential was rebuilt around 5,000 miles ago because it had cracked spider gears. Car only has lowering springs, offset differential bushings, and an intake/high flow cats/tune. The dealership forgot to torque the axle nut on the passenger side, it backed off and the axle was banging around for a few 100 miles before i discovered what the issue was. I took it back to the dealership and they replaced the axle nut.
Fast forward 5,000 miles, my differential is showing signs of failure again with a clicking/clunking noise when turning. I took it to a local dealership this time (i moved away from the previous dealership) and they are asking me if the vehicle is modified (a calibration will void the warranty). I haven't been to the drag strip or track at all since the diff was rebuilt. I'm not sure what to do considering the most likely cause of the failure was the axle smacking against the diff without the nut being torqued. What do I do? The dealership I used to goto (Rodgers Chevrolet) is now re-branded as Michael Bates Chevrolet, and the old service manager is gone. Do I attempt to go back to the old dealership or do I rebuild this differential myself?

Go back to the old dealership - they will have a record of what was done in the past.
