Yeah like you figured out in the previous post, just the lights are grounded, the switches have to be grounded if they have an LED light built in, otherwise you just have your two power sources in (dome light and 12v cigarette lighter) and your accessory out (Foot well lighting) with the footwell lighting LEDs grounded.

Well my switch does have an LED to it, but maybe I can figure something out with it.

I've got 1 pole for ground - 2 wires coming into 1 (ttap) and 1 wire to grounding screw on car (ttap) so 3 wires to 1 ground wire

2 Poles for positive
-1 for dome light (ttapped into gray wire)
-1 for lights (ttapped 2 red wires from lights together)

Where would I put the cigarette lighter wire? Would I ttap it into the one with the dome light? That way they can be on with the dome light and cigarette lighter plug?

What would be another choice for power without having the car on? As stated above the car has to be on for the cigarette lighter plug to work...

When you tie into the dome light, does the footwell lighting come on everytime the door is opened and when you also unlock the car?

Yes. Anytime the dome light turns on the lights turn on. When I unlock my car the lights come on and fade out when I get in with the dome light (how ever long it stays on).

Are you still trying to use the SPST switch? If I'm not mistaken, you need to use a SPDT switch (on-off-on) switch to allow for two different inputs. I used a SPDT toggle and trimmed it down so it didn't jut out as much. 1 "on" position is for the dome light, the other the 12v cigarette so just the footwells can be turned on.

Bought a new switch, but it's too small for the hole.... Also blew the fuse when I took the old switch off. Guess the pos/neg touched or something. On the hunt for a new switch, I need one the same size as the one that comes with the AAC lights. Going to take it with me next time I go searching.

Good luck! Post pics when you get it in. Have you checked with AAC to see if they have a similar size switch that is SPDT?

Installed mine today! Put a 470 ohm resistor on positive wires to dim the lights, way to bright for footwells. Tapped grey wire for dome. Perfect. Wanted to install my interior and trunk bulbs, but someone at AAC decided that instead of red bulbs(same a strips) they were going to send ABER!! GGGGRRRRRRR...... Hired help....

Footwell Lights On Purple Passenger Wire

I was able to finish my lights yesterday. We used the passenger kick panel purple light. We did get the purple wire further down in the channel but since there were 3 of them it took awhile to find the right one. We were able to use a multi meter to find the right wire and test the dimmer switch to be sure we had the right one. From there we t-taped and brought the power and ground to the middle of the console to make it easier to hook up both sides. This will also be an easy way to hook up cup holder lights in the future. This purple wire works great with the dimmer switch for ABL. You can turn it down enough to turn it all the way off as well. Again the purple wire is on the passenger side. It is not a purple and white in my 2011 2SSRS Vert though. It's a solid purple wire only. This is not an easy mod for someone who doesn't know what they are doing. I was lucky enough to have my brother help who had all the required tools and knowledge.

Here is a picture of where we tapped. It's all tapped up now but there are 3 purple wires under that electrical tape. We found it on the second attempt. The red wire coming out of there now is the lead we used to run under the middle of the console.

Make sure you didn't blow a fuse.... I did. It's fuse 33 - yellow 20amp fuse. Other than that post some pics of how you have it, might help.

footwell lights

I was lucky enough to have a factory plug were the fuse panel is on the driver side, it was just sitting there, i bought a connector that mated to it at napa and just wired into that socket lights come on when headlights come on, i think that socket is there for certain build #s as gm had a footwell lighting idea then srapped it i was told, made wiring so easy.
