I’m not that great, either, being that I just got into it this year. It’s a very supportive racing community for all levels, so you don’t have to worry about being looked down on or anything. Everyone is just glad you’re out driving your car the way it was engineered to be. Track Night in America is super low key and a great way to get your feet wet. I’m going to be looking at actual HPDEs for next season so that I can work on getting half decent.
I appreciate the comments. Nelson ledges, mid Ohio and even Pitt is feasible for me. I’m NE Ohio. My plan, which covid adjusted it as did it for most folks, was to have my V6 for my son and the Z for me and do father/son track time. That can still happen without the V6(sold it) but we will see how 2021 and beyond goes now. I’d get the girodisc setup and be that slow guy in the Z28 going around.

I’d be more than happy to have you out here some time at Pitt Race or even if you wanted to try pushing your car on the street to feel more comfortable. Hell, I plan on going to Quaker Valley on Wednesday for test and tune - I enjoy drag racing as that’s how I started on the tracks. Stay in touch, especially in spring. Everyone starts somewhere!

I appreciate that. We will have to do something that way I can make you a bracket for whatever clutch reservoir you decide to go with.

Ah you’ve seen my posts about the lack of a mounting solution I will have to take you up on that! Just trying to get some time slips before I pull the car in the garage permanently for the season and start taking it apart.

I like to see 1LE in the place for which it was intended

TNA is a great event but doing real HPDE is important. As a novice driver you need to learn from someone more experienced. Most origanizations that run HPDE have coachs ride with the novice drivers to talk them around the track. They can provide great advice and insight,

The TNiAs are awesome and its great Nelson Ledges finally made the list. However, I agree a real HPDE will really get you going. 5-6 on track sessions and an all day event on weekends. I've run with AutoInterests for HPDE for 4-5 years now and they are an awesome outfit. They run at Pitt, Nelson, Mid-Ohio and go out to Summit Point in WV as well as NCM in KY now (which is an awesome track).

You will fall in love with your car at Nelson Ledges. No blind hills and a lot of fun sections. Its a shorter track than Pitt, but you can really pick up some speed there. The track owners have been putting some money into cleaning it up too.

I’ve been suggested to look at time trials which supposedly requires the HPDE experience; however, I’m also told the HPDE at Pitt Race isn’t recognized by NASA - happen to know anything about that?

Once bit you are now doomed to upgrades and much pleasure.

Enjoy.
You aren't kidding. My first time, I was amazed at how poised the 1LE was... but that first brake fade...whoa Nelly! You start wondering if the decision to track your daily driver was a good one.

Can't help on that one. Never done anything with time trials. Just HPDE, autocross and drag racing.

I hear you. I trashed my 1LE. Fixed it and have run it since then, however I am currently building a dedicated track car.

My first TNiA allowed me to experience boiled fluid. Was a come-to-Jesus experience for sure

I guess it’s a rite of passage. You’re not part of the club until your brake fluid boils.

After my first track day, the first thing I did was to put in 6 piston calipers...did you do that yet?
