New Camaro Day: Third Time Lucky
She was a redhead. A loaded 2015 not far from home either. I test drove her and fell in love, but it was not meant to be. By the time I had my ducks in a row she was gone, missed by no more than a few days.
I became obsessed. Couldn't sleep, just keep seeing those hips in red hot red. I knew what I wanted: 2SS, black guts, manual, low miles...red. Not too many out there right now, and as many of us know, tough time to be looking. But I persisted. Found one 800 miles away, a little rougher, but the dealership was horrible to deal with, probably my worst attempted car buying experience ever. It was like they didn't want to sell me the car, and after they tried to tack on almost $6000 in fees at the end I pulled out. I test drove a few others locally, tried out some Gen 6 cars. Did not bond. Almost gave up. Then I found her, at a small, private dealer in Minnesota, 1100 miles from home, a 2014 SS. The salesman was low key, answered all my questions, even did a Facetime video so I could check out the car virtually. He said the car was perfect. I didn't believe it, but it sure looked nice. In the end I took a leap of faith and bought it. I got a cheap fare, flew to Minnesota, and Ubered to the dealer. The car was amazing, even better than the photos. It was like it new, with just 13,000 miles. I road tripped her back east over the course of three days and saw the sights along the way, the car was an absolute joy to drive. My only regret: should have stopped to visit the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, would have been a cool photo op at least. I really love everything about this car. Long live the Red Rockit! |
