I wondered about painting, etc., but since it is more than a pulley I don't know how that could affect the internal "clutch" part.

I'd clean it up and check into getting it clear anodized or whatever color you desire. I don't know much about the anodization process nor how it would affect any internal parts of the sprag.

I had to swallow hard on this one cause it is expensive, but my shop assures me it is worth the $$$.

Now if ATI would just make that Super Pulley/Sprag in something that wont rust and look like crap then I would be happy. Did you guys see the pics? Lovely to pop the hood to show someone your engine and that rusty sprag is there to greet you!
Just paint it.

For those of you still following this F-1X build saga, today I found out the real reason I shredded the belt last time out at the track.

Bearings were not right in both the 4" and 3" idler pullies causing movement and eventual failure, especially when I nailed it.

This has been fixed and I will pick up the car tomorrow.

Additionally, the rusty azzed ATI Super Pulley/Sprag was painted as some of you had recommended so I am anxious to see how that looks. Got to be better!!

I had totally forgotten. I have seen the idler pulley issue before. Hate you had to go through that. More speed more maintenance. Good luck with it. I’m curious what that hot rod will do when you get it shaken out.

The day to give it another try is approaching but I may as well wait 2-3 more weeks until after the built transmission goes into the car.

New clutch, new transmission, new F-1X, new belts/pullies, new ZL1 front end (100 less lbs), new Carlyle 15" conversion, new M/T P325/50R/25 ET Street R's, New Strange 3.70 gears , fixed line-lock, and an extra 150 hp since my last time at the track. Something has gotta give and I hope it is my old 10.5 ET.

Now all I need is ~ $20K for a built motor and I am done, lol.

It's never enough and it's never done, but that's why we do it.
