Lol trust me this was the first thought in my head but apparently its impossible because of the wiring. Still dont know why but people have tried and failed. One guy said he put a V8 from an escalada (lq9?) In his camaro but never came back to tell us the details

How many hours does it take to fix it at the dealer rate or a mechanic? I have a 2011 with about 61k. I run full synthetic mobile1 DEXOS change around 3-4k every time.

from what I gather, some dealers do it pretty quick, its the clean up of the seal that makes it take longer from what I have seen.

... and was it simply mechanical
parts?
... or did it require ECU rewrite too?

I remember a post that stated the start of 2011 Production around May or June 2010.

Mine was built in September 2010. Hopefully it doesn't have these bad timing chains.

Timing Chain

Hi everyone, my name is Dan. This is my first post here. Here's my story regarding General Motors Timing Chain (TC) problem, which they fail to accept responsibility.

My 2010 Camaro LT (all stalk) with 88,200 miles was due for it's first California Smog Emissions Test last month, but do to a Check Engine Light the mechanic would not perform the smog test. However, he read the fault codes and it showed P0008 and P0017. I googled the codes and soon discovered this was not an isolated issue. I called the Chevrolet dealership where I purchased my car brand new. The SA told me they were not aware of any TC issues (BS). I informed him there is a TSB regarding this issue on certain GM models with the 3.6L V6 engine. He tells me if there is a TSB, it's not a recall, but for informational purposes. I said, I understand the difference between a TSB and a Recall.

Long story short, I made an appointment to take car in on a Thursday. Now, you're probably asking why I didn't take it to an independent mechanic. Here's why. I contacted GM and spoke to a customer service agent. I wanted to let them know that my car was at a certified Chevrolet shop. I asked for some type of assistance being that my car's powertrain warranty had expired. And some of you have asked about a 10yr/120,000 warranty? I asked the agent about that, and the answer is there is no warranty for that. However, the link I included below says different. The agent took all my information and said he would contact the dealership on Friday and then call me back. GM never called the dealership nor did they call me. On Monday still no call. Tuesday and a donation of $2,285.00 I picked up my car. And yes, it was a TC problem. Next day passed smog test.

Forward to Wednesday, I call GM and leave a voicemail for the same agent I spoke to. Thursday while at work I get a phone call from GM. I originally told him to call me after 3pm when I'm off because we have strict telephone policy. He calls after 1pm while I'm at work. Go figure! Anyway, he explains that there is nothing GM can do for me. I mentioned the TSB regarding the TC. He told me it's just for informational purposes (Where did I hear that before?). I said, I understand, but if it's just for info purposes then GM is aware of this problem or GM would not be distributing this TSB to all its dealerships. He immediately changed the subject. He asked if the dealership attempted to assist me with any type of discount. I said no. Again, he said there was nothing GM could do to assist me. After work I called the dealership and asked if GM had contacted them. The SA said GM never called. Not very professional on GM's part!

I recently filed a complaint with the BBB. And now awaiting for a response. The link below is a letter from GM to customers of certain 2007-2009 models (not including Camaro at that time) with the same 3.6L V6 engine and the very same TC problem. It is in my opinion that General Motors is aware of this ongoing problem, but refuses to admit fault! Any other assistance from Camaro owners would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
