What's your response to...?

I haven't even taken delivery of the car yet and everyone my wife and I talk to say something like "You should have got the 8."

I bite my lip, but I'm thinking, "What the hell do you drive?"

Do you mean V8? As long as you are happy with the V6, which really has sufficient power, then don't worry about what others THINK you should have done.

Yeah, I was referring to the V8.

Don't get me wrong, I don't let what others think make me second guess my decision... It just gets a bit annoying when someone who probably hasn't driven an 8, let alone a 6, makes a comment trying to rain on our parade.

Completely understand where you are coming from... I got it a lot when I bough my 2005 V6 Mustang... at first it really bother me... but then I realized that the answer to "What the hell do you drive?" is usually "A rusted out Escort..." LOL!

So here I am with another V6 car... and people still make the V8 comment... I just tune them out now and don't even acknowledge them... just simply shrug them off... guess my skin is a lot thicker these days... LOL

Had the same thing happen to me. People think that to make it a muscle car you need to have a V8. I remind them that the V6 has over 300 HP and the difference in prise from the 2LT/RS and the 2SS/RS is around $7000, then add another $5000 that the dealer charges over MSRP. Poeple don't realize that the V6 puts out 300+ HP. Not to mention better gas milage. And that the prise difference is so great.

That said, I suppose if you did some research and maybe have to travel quite a distance, you could find a V8 at or just above MSRP.

Also once they crack the code on the ECU, some mods could be done to increase the power. Hopefully this will not cost to much.

Love my V6 and don't regret not getting the V8. Plenty of power. It's no dog. Like you said (What the hell do they drive?)

Yeah most of the time when people say, "you should have got the v8," I say the v6 has 304 hp and then they normally change their minds. Some people still say something about the v8 being better but I just ignore them.

Most of the time people just come up to me and ask enthusiastically if its a RS. I say yes and they act like thats the best thing ever. I think they mix up the RS with the SS lol.

Well, when I first became aware of the new Camaro some years ago, all the talk in the mags was how it would have the Caddy engine that would power the CTS, 304 HP, 29 mpg on regular fuel and I was sold.

I've entered a few car shows and actually got a award for top 20 stock voted by the modified car owners. 150 cars were entered at the show.

When asked what engine, I always PROUDLY give the stats on the LLT and usually say I couldn't find anyone to give me the extra $7k for the 2SS at time of purchase. People smile.

As scrming has proved, the LLT is no dog.
