My car has shipped, how do I track it?

Chevy just emailed me that the car has shipped and they would have limited info from this point. Do I rely on my dealer or is there another way to track?

Dealer can get you the railroad and rail car info. You'll have to track it through the rail road's site's after that.

Or just sit tight for a few days and wait for the status to get to 4800.

If you can get dealer to activate onstar, you can use the My Chevy app to "locate vehicle", but it only works for a couple days after car is started. If it is already en route on railcar, you wont see it on app until they crank the engine to take it off rail car and park it at the rail yard closest to your dealership. (speaking from personal experience lol) but when they moved it from parking space to the transport truck, I did see that too. Also, if you pay the extra 5 or so dollars for the family link, you can set an alert for when it actually leaves the rail yard.

For extra peace of mind, the onstar website tracks hard braking, hard accelerating, late night driving, time spent over 80mph, and distance driven events, so you know if any transporters tried to reenact some scenes from a transporter movie in your car lol. And their version of "hard braking" and "hard acceleration" events are actually pretty mild. I haven't gone past 4K rpms or engaged the abs yet and I have several "hard acceleration" and "hard braking" events on my "smart driver" score.

Just sweet talk your dealer into turning OnStar on and then track it with using the mobile app on your phone for free... or subscribe to Family Link and track it on your computer.

For those that have cars shipped through Union Pacific, I finally found a working number to trace the rail car, 800-877-5123. Have the rail car number ready, follow the voice prompts. You can even get a current status faxed to you.

Yes it will most likely go to WS, that is mine went and say for days until I got on the sales manager at my dealer. He made a phone call and ripped them a new one after they said it would be sitting in that yard for 2 weeks or so...my car arrived a few hours later that same day as the phone call!

Get rail car info, best bet along with Onstar activation from the dealer.
