Pfadt 1 7/8 or TSP 2" headers for best HP

Are there any guys out there with 2" TSP headers on a N/A bolt on car only??
The only results I have to go by is the Jannety header test which produced 411.7 pk hp on a stock LS3 which was 5hp more than the 1 7/8 headers.

The reason I'm researching this is Bc I'm trying to weigh the cost vs hp effectiveness of the 2"TSP vs the Pfadt 1 7/8 header.

I've heard of 1 independent test on the Phadt header and it gained 7rwhp over a 1 7/8 ARH header.

So my thinking is if these numbers are indeed accurate, and TSP 2" gives you 5hp gain and Pfadt only gives you 2more HP than the 2"TSP, then it makes more sense to me to buy the TSP for 1/3 of the price? Triple the price tag almost for 2 hp?? That is the main reason why so many people went with less expensive headers like TSP or Stainless Power to begin with.

I really hope Pfadt can gain maybe 5 hp over the TSP 2", then it just might be enough to then make the price difference a value again.
Keeping my fingers crossed for big Pfadt results!

Peak HP is just a bragging right. Unless your car is a dedicated race car, low to mid range torque and HP are what you really need to be looking at. That is where the extra power you will be able to use and feel is at. Comparing those two economically is very difficult because they exist at opposite ends of the spectrum from each other.

I would do the 2" TSP. Price is a huge deciding factor for me, and TSP headers are great value and performance.

Are the benefits of possibly a couple more HP worth it to you to pay a premium for the Pfadt Headers. Only you would know.

Again, peak numbers are just part of the story. You really need to compare what else is going on under the curve.

If you want usable horsepower that you'll enjoy 80% of your driving, the Pfadts are going to work better for you.

Most of the fun in driving the 5th Gen is from stop to start. That's where a Tri Y excels.

The 2" is awesome if you're running 850+ rwhp at the strip though.....

Food for thought and good luck in your choice!

I get what your saying about where the power is gaining at. The only issue I have is that I don't go WOT from stoplight to stoplight so power under the curve for me doesn't do anything when I'm put putting around in 30-40mph speedzones.
Not to mention I have a big converter so if I want my car to get up and go I just push the gas and it flashes high up in the powerband!

So I'm looking at 1/4 mile performance gains only. That's why I'm interested in the peak hp gain too. But if the Pfadt will gain me at least 5 or so hp over tha 2" TSP I think it would still be worth the price.

That is exactly why I am saying that you need to look and mid range gains rather than only peak power. Mid range power is what you drive and play around on in those conditions. Peak rwhp only matters at the track or on the dyno and honestly 5 peak rwhp is negligible at the strip. Driver skill is much more of a factor.

I went with street numbers and ordered Pfadt headers at their introductory price.

5hp may be what seperates me from 1st on the Fast List to 2nd Place. It will eventually come down to hundredths of seconds on a bolt on only car. My goal is to be the fastest Gen5 with just bolt ons so this is why this question comes up for me. I can't drive it any better than how it's leaving the line now. I just need more POWA from somewhere, and 1 of these headers could fit the need.

For the average guy that just wants a good header with great power and craftsmanship, Pfadt is already to me the TOP choice in the premium header market. My debate for myself is will this extra X amount of HP be enough to justify the almost triple price difference?

I'm pulling for Pfadt, so I'm anxious to see some real world results soon!!

You're better off with the midrange. The peak power is not enough to make a difference, but the average power gain from the tri y design is going to help a bunch.

Down low or midrange You won't loose anything really, I'd get the TSP and use the left over money for some suspension parts.

His 60 foots are already in the 1.5s... I doubt he goes any better there with suspension. Jeff, you're running out of things you can consider a bolt on buddy. lol

Horsepower numbers aren't the only thing to consider, Acceleration rate is a very important thing also!
