REAR CATS DELETE- HELP!

I have seen on here where members are deleting the back two or front cats but not all four. Has anyone done this? will it still pass emissions without all 4?

HELP/ADVICE IS NEEDED!!!

If your in a state with strict emissions tests no it won't pass. It's against federal law to modify your cats.

Now having said that, I'm getting it done probably next week.

Yes, FEDERAL... while you may not have emissions testing in Florida, the cats are still covered by Federal emissions law... It is illegal to "tamper" with them...

man that stinks.... But its good that I know a guy that will pass it. So as for sound... does it make it raspier or does it make it deeper and smoother?

I found it did add some rasp when you where hard on the gas pedal and you hit about 3000 RPM... but cold start up and idle sounded soooo good it was worth a bit of extra rasp... LOL

Haha cool! I don't do a lot of hard driving. I hardly ever get her up past 3000 rpms. I baby her a lot haha. So that being said, do you think that this would be a good mod for me?

Yes sir that sounds good! So believe it or not you are actually who I found my exhaust (mrt 1.0) from. I saw your build in a magazine. I also saw you rims boss 338s, correct? I've thought about gettin 20s in chrome for that retro look. What do you think?

Btw- hope that didn't sound like a creep, I'm actually thankin you. If you wouldn't have all the right ups about your car I wouldn't have my exhaust.

Yep, Boss 338... I really liked them... if the Chrome works for your car, go for it! (if you can still find them)

And you don't and you are welcome!

ughh no chome....but whatever work for ya

Is a little hard to get this DI engine LOUD without some type of negative sound frequency creeping in. From my experience, going catless with 1 3/4 long tube header and solo CBE definitely made my car sound something like a V8 jet engine hybrid LOL. It was too loud for my taste so I had to take it off and sell quickly. When you start going for loud, you are going to also get some drone and rasp. This is when you have to either use helmholtz principal which solo exhaust basically is(almost a no muffler CBE with helmholtz pipes), or use resonated x-pipe. I personally like resonated x, but it will quiet down your overall noise level, but it will definitely remove all drone and rasp. Long tube/no cats/SOLO, can't go wrong if you want LOUD without the other unwanted frequency
