The recommended head gaskets are for the purposes of optimizing quench. Using a thinner head gasket for more compression is not a worthwhile strategy.

Doubt that it'd even be half a point.

Thinner head gaskets decrease your squish height or " quench" . Compression is not what your after going with a thinner gasket. It will bring your pistons closer to the head deck and valves, possibly making your PTV clearance tighter than it already is. It does however, create a lot of turbulence with the intake charge and helps prevent detonation. Piston to wall clearance and piston rock while in the bore can complicate things if you haven't taken measurements.

With any given cam, you need to achieve a target SCR to be able to get to an optimal DCR.

As long as this is the case, SCR absolutely means...........something.

Agreed.

This is the only reason I'd consider aftermarket (not OEM) milled heads with the OP's cam.

Yes you sir are correct. Most people state their CR not really knowing what it is really means pertaining to their particular setup. Just because one car has a static CR of 12.0:1 doesn't means someone else's setup requires that. It all depends on cam selections, and chamber volumes specific to each vehicle configuration. So your right, it does mean something, but not in the sense a lot of people refer to it as.

What you said is correct I was at 485 with e85 and heads now my car makes 510 rwhp with a 900 dollar meziere water pump, 102mm nick Williams on my stock ls3 intake manifold and a otr intake
