WTF: Squirrel in Tailpipe?

So, I get out of a store today and see something coming out of my right inner tailpipe (I have NPP). At first I thought it was a squirrel but, in fact, it was black steel wool. This "tail" wasn't there before exiting the car and going into the store. I went inside to ask for some paper towels and to inquire if they had a camera; they did not. Oddly sales clerk I asked inquired if the Camaro was mine and whether it was a ZL1. He thought i had a squirrel in the muffler. Huh!?

I seem to remember someone right on my butt as I was pulling into this parking lot. They parked but didn't get out of their car. I don't recall pissing anyone off while driving, driving loudly, nothing. Odd. It was a small store and I have no recollection of anyone else coming in after me.

I ended up pulling it out but it sheered and I assume more is inside the muffler somewhere. I'm racking my brain trying to figure out why someone would do this. Is there any way to look into the muffler and pull extra stuff out? Will this just burn up with some driving?

We used to put potato's in the tail pipe of the principals Renault when I was in HS it would start and stall ,then not start . We also used to piss in his gas tank , it always made it backfire . He was a real prick . I do not think there is any steel wool used in your muffler. I think someone thought it was too loud and was F*cking with you .

My guess is with some spirited driving the rest will just blow out by itself.

I have noticed up on a hoist there there is steel wool looking material in our NPP mufflers. Are u sure you didn't blow it out?

Its muffler packing. Take a deep breath, no one is trying to ruin your car.

Mufflers break in over time, they normally get a bit louder. Although if its as bad as you say you could probably get it replaced under warranty if you really wanted to.

Well I didn't have a squirrel, but two weeks ago when I was changing the oil on my diesel, 06' 2500HD, I popped the hood and when I opened it a raccoon jumped out and ran away... Yea, that'll wake you up hahaha

LOL! last month I asked the exhaust shop to check my connections coz their is some rattling underneath when I accelerate. Well I asked them that when I went to get my resonated X pipe installed.

well theres no Squirrel found but a bunch of Pecan nuts stuffed in the passenger side pipes. The mechanic said that it isnt really even that surprising last summer they had a snake in one lol

Exactly what Synner said. There was a thread about this quite some time ago. If I remember correctly the issue was limited to the NPP mufflers only.

Well I have the NPP mufflers. And with headers so this bad boy is loud now. It's ironic the stuffing came out now; I just installed the Forza 3 Exhaust Controller to quiet it down before going to Laguna Seca which has a 90-92 db limit.
