It was a speed camera. Around here they don't care who was driving, the citation is sent to the registered owner. It's also a civil citation so fines are much lower and doesn't have points that a regular traffic citation would. I think very few, if any require proof of driver for a ticket. Generally those states have a camera that captures the front/side of the car.

I've seen people get parking tickets thrown out in court by coming in with some type (not very conclusive, either) Documentation to show it wasn't them- (one instance, it was a handwritten work schedule) Id be very interested to see his that plays out in court with no proof of the actual person who committed the infraction. That's probably why its lower fines, make $ and hope no one challenges
