Is there a big difference between the MGW and Hurst stock shifters. And if the MGW is better which one of the three they have on their site should I go with.

I have the flat stick and love it. It was hard for me to justify the price on the MGW over the other shifters on the market, but after seeing, feeling, and driving with the MGW, the quality of the MGW is far superior to others on the market (IMO). I installed myself, in my garage, on jackstands. I had my iPad with me and q’ed up the video from MGWs sight and did a set by step with the video. Was able to get it done in ~3 hours.

Those that changed from the Hurst have not looked back longingly...rather more over trashed their product saying how notchy and POS it feels compared to the positive lock in short throws of the MGW which has even shorter throws and is like the best out there.

I use the Retro, and bought the black ball with red lettering, works great, no comparison between it and stock..this one always aligns itself in the 3-4 gate and shifts faster than crap. Now a Hurst was a option for some to put on the Camaro, some have changed out the stick but most either upgraded the whole thing or messed with the internals to make better the Hurst.

Sorry a name is just that, just because it was used long ago does not mean as I know from being around that it was the best option back then either...…. My leather surround of the stick fit perfectly on the retro stick and the black ball has stayed locked and does not move like a cheaper shifter may have trouble with. The throws do not feel notchy but rather easy in and out. Missing shifts.....that's for the other guy, you decide which look you like.... And sure better often costs more...……. but hey I don't go oh man I could have got a Hurst and gotten a little badge to put out back on the car saying I use their POS shifter that's better off being made by someone else that makes it better...…… Hurst packages in the day BTW were usually badging and stickers and a shifter...woo hoo……. I bought their products I bought their competitors products also......all fall short in the eyes of perfection...….. be it a slap shifter for a th 350 etc, or a stick shift for a Muncie it matters more if it works good, looks good and does not break, or miss a shift and blow a engine etc......

MGW is much better then the Hurst. I have a the flat stick in red with black ball. One of the best mods I have done.

I hated the Hurst shifter. It was so notchy. I had the ZL1/1LE shifter and switched to MGW. Zero regrets, best shifter on the market.

Another vote vote for MGW Flat Stick. I just installed mine and there is no comparison to stock. This thing feels really solid and well built. Money well spent IMHO.

The "short throw" will accept the factory shift knob, the "flat stick" will not. Other than that I have no idea if there is a difference. I have the flat stick and I love it.

Much appreciate your response. I don't like the factory knob, so might just go with the flat stick as you have suggested. thanks a bunch again

Just know that the flat stick does not come with a knob. MGW will sell you a knob for $30, or you can source one on your own.

I second MGW all the way. I bought the Hurst short throw first. biggest difference I notice was the smoothness, ease when shifting into gear, and quieter then the hurst.

I'm not sure what year your camaro is, but since I have a 2011, I opted to purchase the ZL1 style MGW shifter (2012-2015 style). So not only did I get to ditch the crappy stock Hurst, but I got rid of the round style knob also.

Hurst was terrible and made me grind second all the time. MGW is great, but be ready to lower the trans.
