What about the Fact that E85 is very corrosive is that not a concern? Even if you get the tune. Is the motor going to last? I have a 2006 Monte with a 3.5 flexfuel When I run E85 vs Reg. fuel I get 4 miles less to a gallon on E85. But as said earler in my state it's usally .50 cheaper then reg.

that's because it take more ethanol to create the same energy as fuel. This has been discussed many many times. Some will argue that it's corrosive until the sky cave in and the same goes for pro ethanol folks. For me e85 is the shyt!! LOL. It's like race fuel that smell like fritos for under 3 bucks per gallon that you can get at the pump. It does wonders for our LLT motor and it give extra set of wings for turbos.

where is the proof that it's corrosive? im not asking to be an ass...but everything saying its corrosive seems to be nothing more than opinion.

oh, i didn't say it was more corrosive, i was just saying that that is the only thing i'm really worried about. pretty sure after my registration (end of may), i'll be switching to e85 for a while. don't want to mess with the tune until i get smogged.

D'oah!!! You are right! Looks like the 2012 V6 Camaro is supposed to be Flex Fuel.. which means it should run fine on E85! My mistake... I didn't realize that and since he got CEL i just figured it wasn't a FlexFuel vehicle... my bad!

Oh and yes, E85 is more corrosive due to the high alcohol content...

Yes, the LFX should be able to adjust on the fly and compensate for the alcohol... My truck is E85/FlexFuel compatible... and the computer determines how much alcohol is in the fuel... I have no idea how! LOL!

you need to do the math... my truck gets about 16% to 18% LESS MPG on E85, so the price of E85 needs to be more than 18% less than "regular" gas...

The guys telling him to start filling back up with regular gas...i was kind of saying this in my original post, but i guess I never really came out and said it lol.

The LFX IS E85 compliant in some other vehicles, but is it or is it not in the 2012 Camaro? Last we heard, is that it wasn't offcially supported for the Camaro. My question is, are the alcohol sensors and appropriate tune needed for E85 actually there on the Camaro, or has GM left all of that out and just have a gas tune only like the 2010s and 2011s.

Its obvious with the right tune the engine can safely run on it, but is it there from the factory? I don't know.

With that in mind...go top off your tank with gasoline.

im in the business of ethanol production and trust me its not the solution its only a temporary fix ,natural gas is going to be the next big thing.....

Well I'll see what the car says this morning... It seems odd the car doesn't compensate like other LFX engines. There is so much conflicting info out there.
