try pushing in on your middle part of your headlight button, i'm not home but i think this makes mine come on only after moving outer knob to left first. granted i have the SE so mine are probably different from yours.

You can't push in the knob or have a foglight symbol, cause you don't have foglights. Again, your DRL's should come on when you start the car (it doesn't matter if it's sunny or not). Take it to the dealer if your DRL's are not coming on, they will fix it under warranty.

Just a real PIA to have to deal with on a brand new car that I otherwise love so far (I say so far because I hope this is the first and only problem I have to take it back for). Not really a big deal overall (I mean I realize it's only the DRL's, not like it doesn't shift gears or something) but still kind of disappointing. |

Wow, really? After like the first response the OP realized they didn't have fogs... calm down about correcting people about fogs/drls... the light is in the same place on either one and the OP stated that the lights didn't come on no matter what. This should have just been an easy response, but you people seem to have to argue with everyone about whether it's drl or fogs, and that wasn't even the issue here, either way, they wouldn't come on...

Can anybody with a non RS package chime in to clarify if these are used as parking lights? Or if the OP's car was reflecting the sunlight to make them look illuminated

Note that the DRLs on an RS Camaro do not turn on when you remote start at any time of the day, which is how it sounds like you tested them. The halos, side markers, I think turn signals and tail lights can come on but never the DRLs if I remember correctly. The DRLs only come on when the key is turned in the ignition during daylight.
So, turn the car on with the key in the ignition at daylight and walk around to the front, if the DRLs are not on you have a problem.

So do FOGLIGHTS come on 2LT (non-RS) and 2SS (non-RS)? Just confirming.

So, I went to the dealership on my way home from work. Got there about 5:15 and at first they were not going to even pull it in and look at it since all of their "diagnostic technicians" leave at five (even though the service dept stays open til nine). Said I'd either have to leave the car overnight so they could "diagnose" it and fix it the next day or make an appointment to bring it back later this week! I became a little animated with my displeasure at these options, let's just say, so they finally pulled it in a bay and I saw some guy open the under-hood fuse box, reseat or replace something, and then when they took it back outside (still sunny) and put it in drive (I had done this previously when they weren't working), viola!, the DRL's (aka, fogs) came on! Yeah!
True, that they didn't for the first three days of ownership was NOT an earthshaking problem in and of itself. It was just the annoying fact that something was not working properly on a brand new car. Last edited by Cincy10SSRS; 03-17-2011 at 09:09 AM. |
