You could get a fully loaded 2010 SLP for that much. A dealer is selling a bunch with no miles.

Easy.
Sell whatever car you are driving right now, and get a stock up on top ramen to last you the next 2 years. That's if you REALLY want the vert ZL1.

The convertible is going to drop at a faster rate due to its anticipated residual value. Next year to year and a half I think you can be an owner at 50k.

KBB Values on a 2012 Camaro Zl1 with default values (no convertible in 2012 so this is for coupe):
Private Party:
So I would say it wouldn't be impossible to find one in a year just very difficult, my suggestion would be figure out what you monthly payment would be at 50k and start putting that into a savings account, by the time a year passes you may be able to buy a new Camaro Convertible with the money that's now in the savings account. Plus you didn't mention if you had a trade or not but that may be a factor to get it to 50k as well. My Calculations are 50k @ 1.99% for 5 years would be 876.17 per month 876.17 * 12 = $10,514.04 So potential buying power would be $60,500 |

Why not a coupe? There are plenty of used ZL1 coupes going for 55K. There is one on autotrader for 53k with 2k miles. You might be able to negotiate one of those coupes down to 50K now.

It is not the money we have or don't have it is the cap on toys my wife wants to keep me in check a bit. She has been very tolerant of my toys boats, jet ski, snowmobiles you name I have had it. I just sold a frame off restored 1970 chevelle. I told her at 50 this is my last one and it will be a modern day muscle car and so she put a 50k cap on this one and she really wants a convertible.

If they change body styles, that will really mess up the pricing. They may become collector cars or everyone will want the new ones, your guess is as good as any one's at this time.
