I like how GM provided a picture of a pin punch to inform the techs how to remove a drift pin. LOL

I only see it being an issue for those that get distracted and try to get things from the back seat while driving..

If you notice ... there is still no key part number. Dealers can't order parts without that number!!! WHAT A CROCK

All you need is a disclaimer at checkout that says:

i am not changing mine, i drove my car 12 hours the other day coming back home from hot rod power tour and out of boredom i tried and tried to get anywhere close to the fob in the ignition. nope. notta. i'm 5'7 and i seriously think maybe a very short person that drives with the seat all the way up may be the only issue here. my mom is 5 foot and drives a cts and i cant drive it with my knees up on the dash SMH.....

So with this new key would we have to have the fob on us to start the car or is the chip in the key so we wouldn't have to carry both on us. Sometime it just handy with the key but would like to know if both would need to be present for a short drive for what ever reason

I think the chip is going to be in the key. The instructions call for the new keys to be programmed, as far as I know that would be the only reason.

The recall instructions are very interesting as GM originally was going to send the dealers pre-cut keys matching with a car's VIN number, as a lot of dealers do not have the key cutting machines. So, if your dealer does not have the $6500 key cutting machine, then what? How do you get cut keys? Has anybody REALLY sat down and thought this recall through....guess not....

From the posts on here I think the dealers cutting keys already are doing it on their own with generic blanks.

I'm amazed they didn't change the cylinder to ensure customer doesn't use any additional keys they may have.

yea that is an ancient key with chip inside... my 2004's use that key.
