Best hood for downforce?

Hello, I'm wanting to know which hood offers better downforce and heat extration, the ZL1 hood or the 14+ SS/Z28 hood? I plan to track my car eventually and with how I drive it through the windy roads where I live, I would like the get more downforce than the stock non vented hood. Plus help pull out some heat within my engine bay too.

I'm not certain if anyone's done any kind of definitive testing to say which is "better". But I can say going in that direction can't hurt anything. I know of members who have installed the SS/Z28 hood extractor on the non-vented hood and were pleased with the results. I'd probably do that AND invest in a good splitter.

The OEM designs are definitely not the most optimal outright but they had aesthetics, cost, packaging, water intrusion, etc. constraints to consider for a street car.

I don't like the way it looks just cutting a stock hood and putting the vent it, those body lines really help it blend it. And I've already invest my money into everything else other than the hood.

Hard to tell that from your post.

Each his own. I think this turned out just fine.

Swapping hoods will not create down force....It will reduce the inherent lift associated with the non-vented 2010-2013 cars without vented hoods at triple digits speeds

If you install a ZL1 hood upgrade the front and grille as well. The SS grille creates a buffering/turbulence when used with the ZL1 hood. That is why GM uses a unique grille on the ZL1.
