I live in South Florida. The A/C on my 11 year old SS is fine. I have a question:
As I use my A/C all year so is it possible to just leave this door in one position
and not use it? Which control knob should I not touch and just leave the A/C on
all the time. I never need heat. Thanks.

There's some evidence (video) that supports 3 clicks from the extreme left position of the temperature control knob on the right side of the controls.

3 clicks from the blue dot will keep it from slamming shut which should help the blend door from cracking near the actuator side mount.

They quoted me up front. $709 and change.

Appear to have done a good job, it works, and was a hell of a lot cheaper than a dealer.

I assume you were asking that of me.

No pictures, too tight up there and the big electrical connector is in the way, as well as a vent.

It is duct taped all around to seal, and I assume it is glued back in place as well, but don't really know.

If you are over on this coast, you can drop by to see it.

They supposedly can do this repair in one day at Christian Bros, but I would confirm and make sure they know you are coming from Orlando, so pre-order the part. (the dealer they bought the part from sent the actuator instead of the door, so it cost me an extra day)

Jim

PM me if you have a specific question I may be able to answer. I think they did a great job, Ferman Chevy in Tampa wanted $1400 plus parts, so I imagine it would have been about 16-1700.

Lucky i never use heat, i never even touch the control knob. It always sits at max holding the blend door on one position for all of it's life.

If it breaks for any reason, I'll cut a hole instead of removing the dash and windshield.

You talk sense. Unfortunately, the car will never be the same after this procedure. The dealers usually create more problems than solve anything. And moreover, they usually ask for an extraordinary fee which doesn't make sense at all! Crazy guys. So after visiting dealers, I usually have this idea of selling my car ASAP because it turns out to be very expensive. But one day I got lucky because my pal discovered the existence of socool.sg that provides aircon services in Singapore. I found on their website some useful information about common AC errors and problems as well as their contact number. In general, it was a nice experience working with them. br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}
