That thing is only compatible with the V6. Maybe ask some of the V6 guys and gals in the V6 section if they’ve used it :-)

I suspect they do something, probably by reducing the safety margin of the existing fuel tables. Run a little bit leaner and add a little more spark advance and you will get more power, but that carries a risk of going too far and getting detonation.

Chips have been the biggest fools gold in the auto industry for the last 15 years. I love when people tell me they chipped their truck or Charger and got +40 hp. Silly gooses.

It depends on the car. NA or Force Induction...
I had something similar in my previous turbo car. Huge difference and gain for a few hundreds bucks!
I think it's a waste of money for NA cars.

S4 vs RS4. Skip to 2:20 for stock... and 3:40 for the new tune.

Well back in the day, you could actually swap out the chip in the early control modules. That effectively changed what today we would simply call the powertrain calibration. Was able to do that on my 87 Grand National. Buick had 4 "chips", the last requiring av gas and it eliminated the 124 mph speed limiter. Apparently for the FBI...........or so I was told by the Buick Powertrain engineer I knew.

Same was true for my Ducati 916. Of course to get the PROM you had break the "if this seal is broken warranty is voided" tape over the access port.

Chips alter the power band by moving the peak power curve around but don't supply any real horsepower gains.

A hellcat charger and diesel truck are quite actually easy to “ chip “ and get 40hp or even more on the diesels.

We both know they are actually probably using a programmer . Back in the late 80’s and early 90s they actually were “chips “ with the first one I did on my own car an 87 buick t type from hypertech , probably worth 20-30 hp on the turbo v6’s and went from 14.1 to 13.80s fairly easy by removing the kickpanel then the ecu and old prom ( aka chip )
