Gen 6 1LE vs GT350R head to head lap time

So after seeing the ZL1 vs the GT350R lap on head to head and viewing the results I noticed that the gen 6 1LE really is as capable as the GT350R around some road course. Wow I'm impressed. check out the results at 18:50.

It's also not really comparable as the weather plays a huge factor at BW. The ZL1 was over a second slower during the filming of H2H than it previously had been in different weather, when the 1LE also ran.

Was this due to heat soak?

Have yet to hear of any 6th Gen ZL1 having heat soak.

GM learned from the Z06.

I always chuckle about that... When you break it down from ZL1 to non ZL1, even the SS models have a lot of radiators... The engine has 3 up front, plus the one for the HVAC, plus the transverse mounted transmission one on the bottom of the front lip, the oil cooler and then the diff cooler.

The ZL1 gets 2 intercooler bricks and then the external exchanger, so not really too many more than a plain ol SS gets...

It doesn't necessarily have to be a heat soak. I am pretty sure he was referring to track conditions. When the ambient temps drop about 10 degrees it makes a noticeable difference on lap times due to less heat to fight with tires, brakes and also engine performance. A bigger HP/Forced induction car like ZL1 should see even more benefit since the temp delta will be higher due to amount of HP even without the heat soak or anything

I was referring to track conditions, it can be huge there depending on the year or time of day even.

Was hoping this was for an SS-level 1LE vs GT350R comparison. Rats.
