The MGW is only for the V8 right now. George at MGW tells me the V6 version will be here soon. If you want one for your V6, tell George.

ok, kinda old thread. so with a few more short throw shifters out there now, which one seems to be the best? looking for one with out any vibrations or grinding. mgw and barton seem to be the frontrunners. any suggestions on these new ones?

all subjective!. All the shifters will make more noise simply because that is the nature of the beast when you reduce isolation etc. and become more direct with the transmission. The best is what YOU like!. MGW is a good unit, albeit probably more than what you really need as far as componentry . The "entire" shifter assmebly is really not needed, but its a nice product. The Barton is essentially a offshoot of the Hurst. So if your talking sheer numbers of units sold and sought after then the Hurst wins hands down . Really all up to what you like the best.

For those of you with notchy transmissions - don't blame the shifter. Plus there is a solution: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100114

If my transmission was notchy - I might opt for the taller (it fits and works well on the Camaros as well as the Challengers) pistol grip: http://www.hurst-shifters.com/NEW-PR...ANIUM_ANODIZED

I doubt GM's decision was based on "the best" parts. And, Hurst nor any other company is going to give you free parts anyway and GM is not going to honour your warranty regardless if you have a Hurst, MGW, MTI or any other aftermarket parts.

Torque Solution Shifter??

Has anyone tried the Torque Solution Shifter. Appears to be less expensive than the others.... not sure if that's a good indication.

Here's the website for it: http://www.torquesolution.com/2010-1.../ts-ss-007.htm

MGW is pretty stiff. I've had it for a couple months now and I love it. Shifting from 2nd to 3rd is super easy because of the return.

as far as i know my shifter ( MGW) is the only one that has return springs in the shifter.

I have been driving mine with my new MGW for a couple of days now and I love it. Waiting on a new "Gripper" shift knob and for this shifter to break in a bit but it is tight, short, quick, and precise. My mechanic was quite impressed with the crafstsmanship. Oh, I need to update my sig now to include the MGW.

The MGW truly is an excellent aftermarket product.

Yes. It is a definite improvement. It is somehow less notchy, more positive. It falls right into your hand; original was higher. My occasional 1-2 grind is essentially gone. I can drive more smoothly since the shifting time is more in sync with the rpm drop. The 2-3 is still a little long. I couldn't see any differences in the housing, though I did replace mine as I wasn't sure if there could be some small change in the mounting. You could save a ton of work just replacing the shifter into your original housing.

I don't understand why this is not the standard shifter for the SS. I can't see going back to the original shifter.

Edit: I ordered the "leather" version (there are 2 part numbers), which I think lines up better with the SS interior.
