No sound coming from my driver side speaker.. no chimes, turn signal, radio..

Hey guys.. longtime lurker, finally bought me a 2010 RS a few months ago. It has 23,000 miles on it, and the sound does not come out of the speaker on the driver side (the front). My turn signals work, but there is no clicking sound... no door chime, nothing. I have taken the radio out to see if it was a wiring issue, but couldn't find anything. I know it could possibly be the speakers, but how probable is it that the tweeter and the speaker don't work at all? Am i just an idiot, and is this a simple solution (new speaker install) or is this a software/hardware issue? Thanks guys.

John

You still have time left to get the car back to the dealer for this to be covered under warranty. I wouldn't mess with electrical issues, especially if you don't know how to diagnose them. You may end up with more damage than when you started.

Thanks, thats what I thought... just didn't know if anyone else had experienced this problem or not. I will take it to the dealership. Much appreciated!

Only time I've heard of this problem is when people install the Metra kits...and even then it doesn't happen all the time.

I don't really know.

Some Metra kits needed a firmware update and the solved this issue.

You took the radio out to check the wires, but did you check the rest of the wires down from the radio and to the door and in the door? For just that side to stop working sure sounds like a loose wire to me, but I'm no expert. Here is a quick video that shows how to take off the door panel if your interested:

thanks for all your help guys. i will be honest, i don't know what a metra kit is. i bought the car at 20k miles, it does appear to have an after market bluetooth microphone above where the tweeter is.. not sure if this was stock or after market. my thinking is maybe that has somethign to do with the speaker? the tweeter and the speaker are not working. thats why i think it has to be something other than a blown speaker, but i haven't tried to attach a diff. speaker to the left side yet. i did take the panel off, and all looks correct. but again, i'm no expert. other than this, i love the car.. and i appreciate everyone's help on the board.

i googled something the other day and got a result that it may be a software update needed.. but i can't find anything else out there about my problem.

did u check the fade/balance? that would have been the first thing to check. I have bad driver saide speakers on my older car and I faded everything on that side so all the noise(music) come out of the passenger side.

having this same exact issue with mine. The radio comes on and goes off anytime i increase the volume past 25. When the radio is off, the turn signal "click clack" noise doesnt make its usual sound. The turn signal lights themselves still work. The interior door ajar chimes also do not work when the radio goes off. After a while the radio comes back on and all the previously mentioned noises inside the car work again. Was wondering if anyone heard of what might be causing this.

I know I’m resurrecting an old topic here, but did the original poster of this thread ever figure out what caused this or what was able to fix it? My 2012 just started doing this today. Exactly as described. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
