Blank spot on steering wheel?.. Uses?..

So, I mentioned this on another post, and I was wondering if anyones done this yet.

That one random blank spot on the steering wheel, by the cruise control, is it possible to get some button installed on it?

Heres a picture of the exact spot im talking about..

Im kinda thinking that it would be a good spot for a switch to enable/disable the nitrous (or even better, a "race" switch to open the bottle, enable line lock, enable the nitrous, etc etc).

I wish Chevy made a OEM button for that, so it wouldnt look so weird having a random button on the steering wheel.

In all seriousness, in the 12' that's the cruise control switch.

Uh that would be to cool if someone would figure out how to put a switch there. There would be some great uses for a switch there .

He meant "Stealth" or "Unmarked".

I've toyed with the idea of making use of that blank but that is a switch assembly. All functions on that side go through a single connector.

Where there is a will there is a way, but I don't think there is a way to use that blank unless you break open the assembly.

yeah, I figured as much. I got my SS in 2010, so I was kinda hoping that they were saving that spot for some new feature on the 2012 or something, or a new feature on the ZL1 or something.

on the trucks, there is a heated steering wheel component. I was thinking that might get use there for the cars

Thank you for making this thread op! I was wondering about this recently and even did some forum and google searches to look for info on it, but came up with nothing (until today when I found this thread). If anyone does find a use for the blank spot, be sure to post back here.
