17" Weld RT-S wheels fit the ZL1 .

There are varying accounts to whether or not 17" Welds fit on a ZL1.
I purchased a used set prepared to make them work either way.
I went to the track last night and finally got an opportunity to try my slicks and skinnies on my ZL1 with stock suspension and driveline. The 17x5's bolted right up with zero modification. The 17x10's rears bolted right up with zero modification. The rears are close to touching the lca but there is clearance. I made four passes from 1.49 to 1.67 60' launches. The painters tape I put on was untouched. The paint on the lower control arms were unmarked.

Edit: I forgot that I tied the Ebrake cable back when I purchased my 18" wheel set up back in the spring.

****UPDATED****please read****

I have now made 15-20 passes and last night the driver side wheel came in contact with the bolt for the stabilizer bar and the LCA. I guess my suspension has softened up just enough over the summer to be the difference. It will be an easy fix. The head of the bolt for the stabilizer bar will have to be ground down on one side and a small dime size dimple put in the LCA to get the clearance. I apologize for the misleading title but I can't change it.

Ha Ha... cool because my summers are longer than yours and I'd be carrying more weight. Thanks for the great info.

My A6 is 4470 with a 1/2 tank of fuel in a street set up. So probably 4400 with Welds maybe.
Hoosier 28x10 on the back.

Weight in the drivers seat makes a difference when you're trying to clear the LCA's.

The wheel picture is a little deceiving. Not quite as tight as it looks.

17 x 5"

Can you provide the exact rim specs on the front (fact they fit over calipers is great!), AND the exact tire you used? It looks like it could make a good "spare tire donut". I bet many would like to have one for that purpose instead of just for drag racing. It would be nice to have the numbers to insure, if ordered, one would get exactly what you have! I am also wondering, in a pinch, if the front skinny would fit and be able to be used on the back for a short period of time to avoid having to call a tow truck driver in the event of catastrophic tire failure.

Another thought... might Weld make a cheaper version of the rim from your knowledge (plain black steel) that would suffice and not be a $400+ rim!??

Thanks for any input on this and appreciate the feedback!

Tire setup looks great for drag racing too!
