**Camaro5 Exclusive First Look** AutoMeter air bag compatible pillar pods!!
STILLEN is pleased to announce the following breaking news from Auto Meter Gauge Works...
We here at STILLEN have been getting a ton of questions about the best way to mount gauges in the new 5th gen Camaro from all the supercharger sales without losing the driver side front curtain air bag or drilling the dash board.... Here it is!! The new Auto Meter Gauges Works full replacement pillar pods!!! These will be available in single, double, and triple pods and are unlike any previous pillar pods from Gauge Works. Here's a sneak peek at the CAD renderings of the new pods coming out soon! http://www.stillen.com/media_files/autometer/camaro2010dualiso.jpg http://www.stillen.com/media_files/a...010pillar2.jpg http://www.stillen.com/media_files/autometer/camaro2010pillar4.jpg This is a complete replacement pillar instead of a pillar cover. They started off by laser scanning the entire front and back of the stock pillar. Because they are using CAD they are able to manipulate the pod design before the first article is made and have included some pretty trick changes to their typical pods for our new Camaros. This is the first pillar pod to have the gauges slightly inset into the pillar for a sleeker look and to aid in front visibility. Pillar covers cannot offer this feature. The entire pillar will have all the OEM mounting and locating tabs. They are also including the factory tab for the air bag break-away clip so this is a true direct bolt on that will not interfere with air bag deployment. Even with all the new technology being put into these pods, the pricing will still remain similar to other complete pillar pod covers. The first articles are expected in less than 3 weeks and production units shortly thereafter. |
