100 octane vs 93 octane

Any real performance gain (if tuned for 100)? Doing some 1/2 mile racing tomorrow (it's supposed to be damn hot tomorrow too) and debating if it's worth it, considering I'd have to burn 1/2 a tank of race gas just to get there (nobody sells it around the race area, so I'd have to fill up by me and drive down with it).

When I had my Cobalt SS Supercharged, it was a 20whp gain going from my 93 octane tune to my race gas tune.

If tuned for it, you should notice a bit of a difference in the ZL1 for sure.

Fill a couple 5 gal fuel containers and carry them to the track. Just burn 93 oct on the way there.

Would a bottle of Torco have the same effect?

Just a waste of money if not tuned for it!!!It will more than likely make the car run worse...

Yep, a tune would be loaded for it.

Would Torco be an acceptable substitute if I couldn't get 100 gas?

I'd stay away from those octane boosters/additives.... They tend to leave deposits on the spark plugs.

Our local A&A Auto Parts Store & NAPA's carry 5 gal cans of unleaded race fuels. Maybe check into those stores if you have them.

If not, you can use Sunoco's fuel finder to located places which carry their race fuels. I have a membership to a little station (open 24hrs) that has a race gas pump, and a 89, 91, 93 pump w/o ethanol.

What's wrong with pumping 105 octane at about half the cost of 93? Yes, the evil E85 has reared its ugly head. But it is 105 straight from the tap and a bit over $2/gal here in the OKC metro.
