Mark Donohue/Penske Trans-Am Camaros at Road America Vintage Races

I meant to post these a couple of weeks ago but forgot. Every July Road America in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin puts on the largest vintage racecar weekend in the country. This year they featured the cars of Mark Donohue and 4 of his Penske/Sunoco sponsored Trans-Am Camaros were there to celebrate. In addition, there were a couple of his Can-Am cars, Indy Cars, an F1 car, an IROC Porsche, and 3 of his Trans-Am Javelins. These are the actual cars, not replicas. There was even an old racecar hauler used by Penske back in the late 60's! Enjoy the pics of these cars as well as all the other Camaros that participated in the weekend or were brought by spectators. There were some Mark Donohue Edition street Javelins as well as some cool AMX's there as well. I drove my IOM 2010 RS up to the race and when I came back to get something out of the trunk it had been joined in the parking area by a 2010 Transformer Edition Camaro. They also hold a car show in the streets of Elkhart Lake on Saturday after the racing concludes where there were a few more Camaros.

That looks like a really fun event to go to! Is this a series or just a get-together-and-run-the-ol'-cars-around type of event? There's a vintage auto racing group called CVAR that does a regular series every year at local tracks, and they're pretty competitive. It's always a blast to go watch them. I used to do corner working when I was in school, but now I get to spectate at my leisure!
