Help Complete electrical shut down
Well Wife's civic would not start this mourning, sounded like the starter going bad. Jumped her car with the ZL1 and did manage to get it running then turned her car off and back on again to test it. Nice cloud of smoke started to appear from under the hood. Oh well i guess I will have to take her to work in the ZL1.
I moved my car back up to the drive way again, and turned it off again. Then used the key fob to open the trunk to reload the stuff back in to the car again. One problem though the electrical system went completely down and now I have no access to the trunk anymore. I'm figuring jumping her car blew a fuse, so whats my next option to get this fixed. I mean the fuses are in the trunk right? Yes I did positive to positive etc on the cables, the only dumb arse things I did was have my car running when I connected the cables and did not place negative cable to the frame of her car instead of the battery terminal. But in my defence when the little lady is in a rush to get to work, you tend to do dumb things . Anyway HELP Oh and onstar is useless when the power is gone.

Fold the seat down and pull the little magic truck release handle on the trunk lid. Please do not try to run jumper cable through your car...
Pull the white thing.

Thx I'm still in shock about my car, so my thought process is gone. That's why I came here to get the info, I would have evetually figured things out. My wife and I just drove the car Sunday out on the rural highway (70W) of western Maryland. Had a great time and had alot of thumbs up from other drivers. My ZL1 experianced some problems with the power steering and the power steering rack was replaced twice and in the shop for like 3 weeks. Then this happend this mourning so my brain went into meltdown mode. Really appreciate everyone here and your help.

Yeah and I went to the hood first and probably looked right at it too, then remembered the battery was in the trunk. But when you have your wife late for work and her car won't start and I was half asleep I had a brain fart. But yeah your right, hopefully this might help others in the future. Thank you

Make sure your connections to your battery are good. Turn the key forward and see what you got...power or not. If no power, bad connections. There MUST be power at some point. Even with a dead battery (which is highly unlikely in this case), you'll still get a light or two on in the dash. Something's amiss. Oh...and your onstar fuse isn't in the trunk. But don't ever jump someone's car by using your battery in your trunk. That's exactly what the terminals are for under the hood. |

When I get home from work tonight, I'll start to pull the fuses one by one. The battery should be fine, the car only has 6600 miles on it. I tried to start the car up and it's totally dead, in fact the key is stuck in the ignition! I locked the car up manually with my back up key. I just need to spend more time learning about this car (my first camaro). Oh I enjoyed the first Indy camaro fest had a great time.
