Your first car should be something you can afford to drive into guard rails and over curbs - because odds are you will.

Which in this case would be a Schwinn b/c the repair damage will cost VERY LITTLE. And so will the insurance.

Personally I think that if your willing to work hard for and save every penny possible for it then hell yeah go for it, it's a freakin SS! But if your just gonna get it handed down to you get a 1LT or LS becasue parents shouldn't give everything to thier kids without making them work for it, but they can always help you out. Now if you do get an SS just watch out for that insurance quote because that is what really gets you, some think yeah I can afford it but forget about insurance.

And one last thing I'm 17 and I am getting an SS and I know that without a doubt I will not speed because I'm working extremely hard for this and I know if I screw up I will have to sell it and all my hard work will go down the drain. You just have to remember when your tempted to punch the pedal (other then when you are breaking it in) that you don't always live for the moment and you have to act responsibly to avoid consequences in the future.

Does anyone else have trouble understanding this guy's statement? Just wondering.

Or one lane wooden bridges with steel truss supports....with an '82 AMC Concord....speaking from experience. My kid is getting a '82 Suburban for his first car with cattle guards all the way around! No offense my little Canadian buddy but the majority (not all) of us at 16 were not capable of handling 40 hp much less 400hp. I am all for dreaming big but I would rather you dream about changing the world than see you wrapped around a tree.....just my .02 and you asked for it

When you get the car, please come back and start a thread titled "Am I the Only 16 Year Old With a Camaro?"

Nah, I don't think an SS is a good idea for your first car. Your young and your going to make mistakes when you first start driving. Taking turns too fast, not adjusting your driving for weather conditions, not yielding when you should, not being aware of your surroundings and everyone around you. Driving a high performance car will amplify all of those mistakes and more than likely get you in trouble. Maybe after a year or two of driving you can step up to something like an SS if you think it's still for you.

I've posted in these threads before. None of them ever listen.

Oh, what the heck, I'll say it again... go to college, get a good job, buy a house, then think about getting your dream car. I hate to see young people put themselves in a financial hole so early in life.

Even if you have money for an SS, atleast just get the v6. You'll thank yourself later and be able to spend the extra cash on something more important than a nice car. Just my .02
