Removed my stripes

I removed my stripes this weekend. The ones on the hood came off easily with no sticky residue left behind. The deck lid and spoiler is another story. I can still see where the big stripe and the thin pin stripe beside it were on the car. Alcohol doesn't seem to cut the sticky stuff. Any suggestions that won't wreck the paint. And before someone says it, I'll post before and after pics when I can. Any info is appreciated. Thanks, Darren.

Don't know if is the same with stripes. But every time I've taken either vinyl or metal stickers off cars/trucks I've bought in the past I've either used WD40 or goo gone. Both took the sticky glue right off.

How'd you take the stripes off? I'm about to buy a CGM with that has custom vinyl blue stripes on it and I'd like to take some of them off but obviously don't want to damage the paint. Any tricks you can share?

3M adhesive remover will do wonders, and not harm the paint. It is available thru any auto parts store that deals in selling automotive paint or from a paint store itself.

Heat gun. Heat em up and start peeling. Keep em warm as you peel.
Thanks for the info everybody.

decal eraser. Can buy one at any paint supply store. Basically a rubber wheel that goes on to your drill. Doesn't harm the paint, no chemicals.

Be careful with goo gone, I stripped the clear off my door-edge with that stuff. I had these door guards that came with adhesive stuff inside. Long story short, the sun had melted away the adhesive, the door guard fell off my door and left glue all over the place. I used googone automotive, and it removed the glue, mostly, but also removed my shiny clear coat. Sux.

Regular googone will get rid of it. Even then, you'll still probably see a very light "outline" of where stripes once were. The paint underneath them was preserved, differentiating those parts from the rest of the paint. The sun will blend them in with time.
