I have not seen the black wheels up close. A close look at the AL polished wheels shows that all surfaces of the wheel have had some type of machining and or polishing on it. This may make it a bit more costly to produce.

I did see one ZL1 at a dealership with the bright aluminum wheels but I did not look at them close enough to know if all areas had any machining done on them or not. I know the faces of the spokes looked like they were finished machined but I did not look close enough at the rest of the wheel.

Send a PM to user tkrupinski and ask him. He bought a set for this SS a couple months ago.

You would need to order 2 of each of the RTQ wheels.
Quantity of 2 - 20x10 RTQ's
Quantity of 2 - 20x11 RTQ's

Just curious, did you put a total of 4 wheels on the order and then ask for a shipping quote or did you just put one wheel on the order and ask for a quote? Sometimes the shipping charges don't necessarily double just because you put 2 of the same item on the order.
4 wheels on one order total shipping was $540

Cool. That makes sense now. Thanks!

the problem is you have to buy tires too, I don't think the wheels are overpriced really, but adding tires gets pricy. maybe when i need tires i'll think about it, but wheels and tires costs $3000-$3500 am i right? but honestly, probably worth it. no other mod could give you more visual appeal

Wow. That's almost the cost of another wheel. It would also cover the cost of one of the tires! Yikes.
If I ever decide to get these wheels I think I will be looking for an alternate source that will give me a good deal closer to home. I'll drive down to Chicago area to one of the dealers down there that is a sponser on another forum and pick them up. No way would it cost me $540 in gas and tolls!

Thanks for the info.

I've been a auto mehcanic since the 80's and have learned one thing. When you buy parts for your automobile they never charge list price, so it looks like you're getting a better deal. I think sometimes they just pick a price out of a hat and say that this is the list price and then knock off some so you think you're getting a deal. I personally like to price shop because of that. But so far I haven't found any better than MaureenM@Rodgerschevrolet , fast free shipping and like I said best price. Just keep her in mind if, god forbid, you need to replace something.

BTW I was never trying to promote GMPD or any reseller. I was only using GMPD because they will show the list price. I just used GMPD as a convenient way to see if the wheels were available anywhere yet and had prices on them. I'm sure there are better deals out there for sources that won't charge so much shipping.

So to me the exclusivity of them is not what you are paying more for. When the black wheels first came out on the 2012 ZL1 they were also exclusive to only the ZL1 for that production year. I think GM is banking on the assumption that more people would choose to upgrade to the bright aluminum for the looks so they could make more money by selling those as the "up charge" option on the car.

Right, But the silver ones have ZL1 engraved on them and the black ones just say Camaro....
It would look stupid to put the silver ones on an SS for example.

Also, the tires are damn expensive - about $2,000 installed for all 4. So new wheels and tires will take you to about $4,500.

I actually bought the wheel/tire warranty package from the dealer for $500 for 5 years I believe.

Did you have any clearance issues at all ? (seems like the emergency brake line is sometimes a problem)

I'm gonna contact Maureen Monday and find out what the price is for the black wheels. It'll be nice to have both.
