REVIEW: Carcoversdirect.com Interior Cover
http://www.carcoversdirect.com/parts...3380/materials
First, others here at C5 have gone before. I want to credit SkipinMinn for informing me about this product. I immediately recognized its utility for my situation and it was the first thing I bought for the new car, weeks before delivery. What this product does is, it allows you to keep your top down, tonneau installed setup for extended periods of time. If you don't like the idea of keeping your top down for several days running or you're constantly parking outdoors or in questionable security situations, this option may not be for you. Bottom line, you are exchanging installation and repacking of the cover for installation and repacking of the tonneau. I can understand where that may not be attractive or useful to some. For me, it is attractive because my vert is always parked in a secure garage at home and a semi-secure parking garage at work where I feel comfortable using it. I also really like the idea of exercising the top less figuring if I use the mechanism to raise and lower it 100 times per year, it will last longer than if I use it 500 times per year. So I view it as making my top last longer. YMMV.

The front end is held on by Velcro straps and the windshield wipers.

The sides are secured by a Velcro strap around a cut out for the mirror and another Velcro strap through the door handle. The rear tucks under the truck lid.

The trunk attachment is retained by three small tubes that slide under the trunk lid.

The link in post 1 shows a variety of fabrics and colors. I chose the Noah fabric which performs well in all the categories important to me and was reasonably priced. All-in-all, this accessory is very useful for how I will use the vert. Here's how it rolls up for compact storage in the Camaro's limited trunk space.

This particular one is $114. If you check out the site linked in Post#1, you'll see a myriad of different performance fabrics, some in many color options and each at different price levels.

Don't know for sure but I doubt it. I tried putting it on with the windows up and it doesn't work. It is custom sized to the Camaro so there's not a lot of extra material.

Cover.
Pin not trying to be a jerk here but if you were going to go through all of the trouble to get this out of the trunk, pull it over the car and fasten it in place, wouldn't it just be easier to put the top up? What's the purpose? Maybe I just don't understand.

Thanks Indydriver,
I'll be interested in this once I get the beastie. For my last convertible I would put extra padding in the top folds when I was going to keep the top down and in the boot for extended periods (weeks, months) and never had a wear issue with the top fabric. That top lasted 15 years. Just a thought. -s |
