is there any difference between the black and silver other than colour?

Ehh, I slightly disagree. The black one doesn't dent as easily, conducts heat better (intake air is nominally cooler), and doesn't look as "cool." Basically... for looks, get the silver. For function, get the black. Since I don't plan on opening the hood to show people my V6, I got the black.

Sweet. You'll love it with a cat/axel-back exhaust system.

I do have the Hydroshield on there. I see no reason not to put it on.

I got the black. Unless you're chroming your engine bay, black fits better, imo

Brownhornitt, why would you want MORE heat conduction? The less heat getting from my engine compartment into my air, the better!

I don't know about the heat and black vs. the chrome, but your air, with Injen, is coming from down low and not from the engine compartment.
