Widers rears...not sure if this has been asked?
I'd really like to put wider rear tires on my car. I need more traction, and I also like the look. I've seen some similar posts, and it sounds like a fatter tire can be made to fit on the stock rim, but it's not the smartest idea.
So, if I want fatter rears, I need fatter rims. Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket rim that looks just like the stock ones? I'd like to save some cash and just replace the rear wheels and tires. OR, is my only option to just buy all new wheels?

You could have the rears widened. Not sure how expensive that is, but I would think it should be less expensive than replacing wheels completely?!?!?!

That would be nice. I didn't know that was even an option.

Yeah, there are companies that do it. I think there are even companies that sell widened OEM wheels, and then have a core exchange program for your stock wheels. It is a feasible option, but I don't know the name of the company that does that. I think most people move their 20x9's to the front, and then have their 20x8's widened to whatever width they want (I think most are right around 10.5").
Keep an eye on the classified ads for wheels, they show up there quite frequently! Edit: Found this company that widens wheels, but not sure if they have a Camaro Exchange program: http://www.weldcraftwheels.com/index-1.html Last edited by blazzin1; 07-18-2013 at 09:43 AM. |

It looks the widest I can go on the rear is:
315/35-20 = 28.7" tall, 10.5-11.0 wheel Say I want to go all out and get 4 new wheels & tires (which would probably cost a fortune, but hypothetically speaking), would it be better to get a different size for the fronts, or just stick with the stock size? Also, would 315's be overdoing it? Would 305's be better?

I thought ADM had a few sets of widened stock wheels the last time I talked to them.

Do you guys think it would look weird if I put a different brand of tire on the back? Say I put some Pilot Super Sports on the rear and just left the Pirellis on the front?

Weld craft does great work and they only charge $275 per wheel to widen them. Their located up in Michigan so you might even be able to save on shipping.

I talked to Andy and he said he'd make a killer deal on them. How killer? I can't remember. But would definitely be worth looking in to.

I keep reading about offsets and setting the right offset. Is this something I'd have to worry about if I ordered a package off TireRack? I can go on there, pick out wheels and tires, have them mount and balance them, and ship them to me. I was thinking once I got them, all I'd have to do is take the old wheels off and put the new ones one. It it more complicated than that?

Do you have the polished aluminum wheels? I have 2 widened stock rears in that style I may be selling soon. I ran 315 NT05s on them.
